ニューズコープ会長兼CEOのルパートマードックが同社のコンテンツをGoogleサーチインデックスから撤去すると発言した。オーストラリアにあるSkyNewsのインタビュアーが、オンライン戦略について聞いた時に語った言葉だ。

"I think we will [remove our websites from Google''s search index] but that's when we start charging"

（私はGoogleのサーチインデックスから削除しようと思っている。しかし今我々はその時に向けて充電中だ。）

"The people who simply just pick up everything and run with it - steal our stories, we say they steal our stories - they just take them. That's Google, that's Microsoft, that's Ask.com, a whole lot of people ... they shouldn't have had it free all the time, and I think we've been asleep".

（大衆はただ単にそれを読んでいる。しかしグーグルやマイクロソフトや、Ask.com、世界中の全ての人々が我々の記事を盗んでいる。それはもう無料にするべきではない。）
